Why I Donate: I started donating in 1948 and donated on an "as needed basis" at Lincoln General Hospital, Lincoln, NE, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, MD, and Turo Hospital, New Orleans, LA. This was through 1959. I started on a regular basis with Belle Bonfils in Denver Colorado in 1964. I was 3 pints short of 20 gallons when I left Colorado. I have been a regular donor with the Olympia Blood Center since I arrived here in 2003. From 1985 to the present I have donated mostly platelets. This was something I could do to benefit people in need.
